In addition to this great San Diego rental, you will receive a 2009 bottle of Produttori di Barbaresco “Asili.” This great wine is produced in the area around the town of Barbaresco which lies about 10 miles north of Barolo. (Of course in Italian tradition, each disparages the people and wines of the other) As in Barolo, the wines are 100% nebbiolo.

What’s unique about this particular producer is that it’s a cooperative. The winegrowers surrounding the town commit to selling the grapes to the coop. The catch is they must sell all their grapes. They can’t hold back the special ones they harvested in the dark. There are quality markers for wines from this region. The dividing line is between village wines and vineyard designated wines. This is a vineyard designated wine that is only produced in years when the quality of wine in that vineyard merits special attention. Usually they are ready to drink by year 5.  Another earthy pair. Wine has flavors of violets, some leather and lots of body. Wine kindly donated by SDCBF Board Member, Allen Snyder.
