How to Nominate Someone for the Distinguished Lawyer Memorial (DLM)

The Distinguished Lawyer Memorial (DLM) honors deceased lawyers and judges from the San Diego County Bar Association who have shown exceptional dedication to the community and the goals of the San Diego County Bar Foundation (SDCBF). These goals include providing access to legal services, improving the justice system, and promoting legal understanding in underserved communities.

Nomination Process:

Who Can Nominate: Families, friends, and colleagues of lawyers and judges who have passed away in the last two years.
Criteria: Nominees must meet the standards of a DLM Honoree.
Deadline: Submit nomination forms and supporting information by Sunday, December 31, 2024.

Responsibilities of Nominators:

Information Gathering: Provide detailed information about the nominee’s life and career.
Fundraising: Assist in fundraising efforts to support the SDCBF’s charitable work. The DLM Ceremony is one of two major fundraisers for the SDCBF, ensuring the continuation of the honorees’ legacy in our community.

Donations in honor of DLM Honorees support the SDCBF’s grants to nonprofit and legal aid organizations, benefiting immigrants, low-income communities, survivors of domestic violence, people with disabilities, veterans, the homeless, low-income seniors, and at-risk youth.
